We often hear about things that young people do that are awful and 'not nice' but I am going to tell you something that makes me proud to be a mom. My older daughter is in college and she has Asperger's and a reading disability- many people tell me they can't tell she even has Asperger's due to the intense social training, clubs, etc we did.

Anyway, this past Sunday she was inducted into the college's National Honor Society (can't remember the name of it now) and her friend Alex who is a Senior was there and getting a ton of awards (only the seniors get awards)- they woo-hoo'ed only for certain students- he was one and my daughter was another. Alex ended up with about 5 awards!

Today was their last full day of classes and they had what they call their "Spring Fling"...they have a picnic outside with things to do (Mechanical Bull, Bounce House (yes for college students!), contests, etc) and after my daughter was done and got in the car (we are down a car) she said, "Guess what I did?" ....what? She WROTE Alex a letter. It was a letter of appreciation. She showed me a copy when we got home. How they met two days after she came to school, what a great friend he was to her, how he helped her gain confidence and how he helped her form her club, etc. etc. I was SO nice!

I asked her what did he say- she said that not only he was shocked but he was thrilled! Apparently, he never throws things like that out and said he is going to find a "folder' to put it in and will keep it forever. (He must have a HUGE filing cabinet! LOL)

After that she got asked to a wedding by another guy friend- bride begging her to go with him...she (my daughter) has a boyfriend. I said check with him but you are only friends so it will be ok. Popular now, isn't she...oh, and she made the cheer squad too!
