Free Compost (various cities/counties)

Many cities/counties offer free compost to their residents. This is absolutely not a comprehensive list, just what came up in an internet search. If your city/county is not listed, visit the official municipal government site to see if they have a compost giveaway program. Sometimes local business will offer free compost (e.g. a local mushroom farm, or a local farming/gardening coop) -- it's worth searching online to save yourself hundreds of dollars for really good medium for your garden/lawn/potted plants! If you know of an establichment not listed here that offers free compost, please share is by posting a reply with the information.
