Scotty K was told that I would not take him to the funeral if he was drunk. He called a little before 4pm and said he was getting a ride from someone else. I was already in the truck when he showed up. He was totally plastered and wearing his green camo coat, which meant he had his jug of Korbel in the inside pocket. A number of people commented that he smelled like a brewrey. Not that I had respect for him to begin with but it just went lower. He could not even stay sober or at least slow way down on drinking before going to a funeral. We did not stay for the funeral. There were alot of people there and alot did not stay but there were alot staying and still coming. My knees were acting up, that is why I sat in the truck because the chairs inside were way too low for me to be able to sit gracefully and getting up would have been worse.
Was on porch wednesday, got up to go to rest room and fell flat. My foot hit the door and the glass shattered into little beads. Thank God it could have been alot worse. I had to crawl to the bathroom to pull myself up. My leg is very swollen, but still had to work last night. My paycheck came early, so we finished shopping. Did get dishes done and put away both days and cleaned cat box yesterday. NOt much got done after I got hurt but at least I am moving and it could have been alot worse.
With the storms last night, Niki (my middle child) sent me a couple pictures of her tree by the corner of her deck. She and Emma were watching TV and heard a super loud thunder crack sound and right after that happened it smelled like a fire cracker in the house. Niki was frantic running all over the place trying to figure out what was shorted out. The smell went away, she looked outside and saw the tree by the corner of her deck. It had a big gouge in the trunk and bark blown all over the place. The tree was hit by lightening.
We had a severe thunder storm alert and then a tornado alert. We got lots of high winds with gusts up to 80 mph, lots of hail and some rain. It was still in the upper 70's at 8pm and then it got real humid and then the storms got more wicked.
Another sad week for us. Found out last night that our friend Scotty K (Wildman) was found dead on Friday. He was not answering his phone or his apartment door for a number of days. They had the maintenance man check on him. He was found dead in his bathtub. Scotty loved his baths as much as he loved popping pills and Korbel brandy. It is a hell of a way to go. When I came home from College, back in 1982, I went to the bars and there was a heck of a snowstorm at bar time. I started to walk home and a cute guy asked if I would like him to walk me home, of course i said yes. Then I found out it was Scotty, did not recognize him. He had changed alot. I let him sleep on the floor with me at my mom's house because he lived about 2 miles from where I was staying. My mom was pissed that I let someone stay at her house, until I told her who he was then it was all ok. Scotty wanted to meet me at the bars again but I was headed back to college and promised we would get together when I came back. That never happened. I did not come back for a few years and was pregnant at the time. When Don and I got together, I don't remember what was going on that sparked a conversation I was avoiding for years. He and Don were standing by the basketball hoop at my house on Jefferson St. Don must of ticked me off because I remember telling scotty that I was suppose to be with him not Don. Scotty said and why is that. I had to admit I never came back. He waited for me but I did not follow my promise. I started to watch him go down hill from there. There were times when Don was in jail and if Scotty was tending the horses at his uncle's place, he would take Danny's truck and come pick me up and we would go get some beer, he would drop me off at my house and take truck back to Danny's and walk the couple blocks to my place. We were always good friends and that was the way it would be. The last couple years his drinking got so bad, I could not stand to be around him for long. It hurt me to see him that way. He never married and I never knew him to have a girlfriend. We all make mistakes and have to live with the "What if's". I have alot of them.
