I was astonished at most of the books that have been banned or challenged. I have three lists here, one for the top 100 banned/challenged classics, one for the top 100 banned/challenged books from 2000 - 2009 and one for 1990 - 1999. I have most of the classics on that list and a good many of the ones on the 2000 - 2009 and 1990 - 1999 lists! There are a number of books on the lists that my children read when they were appropriate to their ages such as A Bridge to Terabithia, every Judy Blume book, Maurice Sendak's books, Shel Silverstein, S.E. Hinton, Roald Dahl . In fact, I even bought a number the challenged children and teen books for my children. And the banned/challenged classics?! I read most of them while still in high school!
